Peter M. Schoenholtz, LCSW

Director

Mr. Schoenholtz, has been a practicing therapist for over 35 years. He is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Social Work, and has specialized in the evaluation and treatment of children, especially those with school-based problems.

After spending many years as a mental health consultant for private schools and as a hospital-based Clinical specialist, Mr. Schoenholtz became aware of the gap in service for children who were struggling from under-diagnosed or under-treated psychological or learning problems that were leading to school failure. The idea to create a supportive school for these children, for however long they needed it--was the genesis of The Westfield Day School.

Pamela Heldman, MS/Ed.

Academic Director, Assistant Director of Administration

Pamela Heldman has over thirty years experience as a teacher and leader in private special education, pupil personnel services, and staff development, during which she served as Assistant to the Superintendent of the Yonkers Public Schools. She has developed and led the transition from a 1:1 Independent Readiness Program to the district, has instructed teachers in classroom technology for Iona College, trained assistant teachers in child development, and is a past recipient of the esteemed Jenkins Award. Mrs. Heldman has brought a high level of commitment, energy, experience and vision to the School. She is part of the administrative team that has ushered in the PG Program, advanced and college courses as a middle school transcript, and the ability to offer accredited work at Westfield since taking over the entire academic program in 2007.
